UTICA, NY - SUNYIT junior Kevin Nelson (Oneida, NY/Oneida) of the men's volleyball team has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Men's At-Large District One College Division All-Academic Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

It is the third academic award that Nelson has won as a student-athlete this year, as he was also named the SUNYIT Wildcat Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year and to the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) All-Academic Team.
Nelson, a computer science major, tallied 104 kills, 80 digs, 28 blocks, 15 serve aces and 12 assists while appearing in all 27 contests and helping the Wildcats set a program record for most wins in a season. He was also an integral member of the SUNYIT men's soccer team that posted back-to-back double-digit win seasons for the first time in program history and set program records for total goals and points in a season this past Fall.
The ESPN the Magazine District One College Division All-Academic Team honors student-athletes from NCAA Division II and III and NAIA Division II schools in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. Student-athletes that are selected to the All-District First Team advance to the ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
