NY state joins NYC in suing FedEx over untaxed cigarettes

The main focus of this article was Fedex shipping unstamped cigarette cartons to homes throughout the state of NY. The state of NY says that Fedex knowingly shipped 400,000 cartons of untaxed cigarettes depriving the sate of anywhere between $20-$50 of tax per carton. Fedex states that its customer privacy is important and packages were not opened unless there was proper cause. I beleive the ethically issue with this article is the right to privacy. Fedex has a policy of customer privacy and cannot open packages from customers without vaild reasons. Therefore they probably violated the law unknowingly and the final decision on this case with have to come down to a judge.
