Make plans today to attend this event for alumni and faculty/staff members who were at the college in the 70s-80s, including those on the original Utica campus. All 15 classes from 1975 to 1989, and all other students, faculty and staff from SUNYIT’s old-campus days – the “Mills Era”– are encouraged to attend this second 1970s-80s and “Mills Era” Reunion.

Recount days spent at the Upper-Division College / College of Technology during its early years – including the former Globe Mill Factory at 811 Court Street, Mill Square at Court & State Streets, Potter Center at Potter & Whitesboro Streets, the Rome Center in the former Barringer Street School – and area hangouts such as the Pub, Brewery, Kozar’s, Spilka’s, 11th Ward, Gladstone’s, Lily Langtry’s, Sunset, Bearded Dolphin and Shakers.

Reunion activities begin that afternoon on the new Marcy campus, where you can witness the final day of “Apocalypse” week being celebrated by current students 2011-style. Reunion continues into the evening with a Mixer featuring good food and lots of opportunity to mix and mingle with fellow attendees.
Reunion activities include:

  • Check-in at Kunsela Hall lobby to receive Reunion name badge for venue/bus admission (11:30-6pm)
  • Review the Alumni Association "Wall of Memories" history display in the Campus Center upper lobby.
  • View and access to the newest buildings on the current Marcy campus
  • Bus tour past some of the old-campus buildings (periodically between Noon and 5:15pm)
  • Hospitality Room in Kunsela Hall with yearbook display and "afternoon snacks" and beverages
  • Matt’s Brewery plant tour with campus shuttle (advance ticket sales for 11:30-2pm, 1:30-4pm, 3:30-6pm – indicate time preferences on Reservation Form)
  • Evening Mixer in Kunsela Hall with food, beverages, and cash bar (5:30 to 8:00pm)

After Hours:
Following the completion of Reunion activities listed above, attendees may enjoy the rest of the evening on their own, including some of the following options that have been popular post-Reunion activities:

  • A visit to the fully restored historic Hotel Utica (www.hotelutica.com), where some students were housed during the old-campus days, that now has a renovated lobby and bar with several areas for quiet conversation.
  • Venues on Varick Street – the two blocks anchored by Matt’s Brewery – offering a variety of pubs and eateries, many that are new establishments in old buildings familiar to students from the old-campus days.
  • SUNYIT’s student-run Campus Activities Board (CAB) is holding its final day of “Apocalypse” week that is scheduled to conclude with Fireworks, weather permitting (Lot F and the Soccer Fields will be closed due to launching), that would be visible from most areas on campus.

Eating on campus:
As outlined above, Reunion registration includes access to the Hospitality Room with light "afternoon snacks" and beverages and Evening Mixer with food and beverages.
Additionally, attendees may choose to eat at their own cost at one of the campus eateries operating that day: the Food Court in the new Student Center that offers multiple options from morning to late evening, or the Dining Hall in the Campus Center that offers a one-price, all-you-care-to-eat option at Brunch and Dinner payable at the door.
