SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica-Rome marks the milestone of having 21,000 graduates following its May 2008 Commencement exercises. Those who have completed all degree requirements and graduated from SUNYIT become alumni.

The Alumni Association Advisory Board (AAAB) represents the needs and interests of alumni and future alumni (students). The Alumni Office provides staff support to the alumni board and works with the alumni board and student leaders to research, plan, and implement programs that are meaningful to graduates and future alumni.

The alumni board and Alumni Office work to foster a sense of community among all members of the SUNYIT family: past, present and future. The Alumni Association, with volunteer and financial support from current and former students, has made numerous contributions to SUNYIT, including sponsoring events for alumni and future alumni, providing scholarship support to benefit students, helping fund the Ropes Course on campus, and establishing and funding the Wall of Memories in the Campus Center, among other activities.
