Transfer Applicants: New York State residents applying directly from a two-year NYS public college (SUNY/CUNY) who will have earned an associate degree by the time of their planned entrance at SUNYIT.
- EOP Applicants: Applicants to the Educational Opportunity Program. You will be billed by the Application Services Center if it is determined that you are not eligible for EOP.
General criteria used in determining transfer admission:
- Students must present a minimum 2.5 + GPA to be admitted into an undergraduate program.
- Students between a 2.0 and a 2.49 GPA will be considered on an individual basis and will most likely be required to come in for an admissions interview to discuss their academic background.
- Acceptable credentials vary by academic program. A broad area of discretion is practiced in selective admissions. Previous academic record, special talents and personal factors all play important roles in a transfer admissions decision.
Notification of transfer admission is as follows:
- SUNYIT is on rolling admission. Decisions for fall begin on December 1 and continue through fall registration or until the respective program is full. Spring (January) decisions begin mid-September and continue through spring registration or until the respective program is full.
- However, you are encouraged to apply early! An early application will allow you to be considered for merit scholarships and will allow you the best selection of campus housing choices.
To confirm your attendance at SUNYIT:
- Full-time transfer students must sign and return the "Admissions Deposit/Enrollment Confirmation" card and return it with a $50 tuition deposit within 30 days of acceptance.
- Part-time and EOP transfer students are not required to submit a monetary deposit, but must complete and return the deposit card within 30 days of acceptance.
- All new transfer students are required to attend an Orientation program in order to register for classes. Orientation is scheduled on a variety of convenient dates and times to accommodate the busy schedules of our transfer students.
