Admissions Requirements

Applied Sociology

Admissions Criteria:
All applicants to the MS Applied Sociology program must possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university or college. Applicants must have an average of B or better (a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale).

Applicants without a bachelor's degree in sociology, must have earned at least 15 credits in sociology or a closely related field.

Applicants must have completed a course in statistics with a B- or better. Applicants who do not meet this requirement may be admitted with a deficiency that must be removed before taking SOC 532 or SOC 533.

Application Checklist:
To apply for admission to the MS Applied Sociology program, please submit the following materials to the SUNYIT Graduate Center:


    ☐ Completed Application for Graduate Admission
         with $50 fee made payable to SUNYIT
    ☐ Official transcript(s) from colleges previously attended
    ☐ Three letters of reference including one from a current or former workplace or
         practicum supervisor as well as one from a former faculty member.
    ☐ Educational objective outlining how a master's in applied sociology will
         further your career goals.
