Transfer Credit FAQ
Athletics |Financial Aid and Expenses | General Questions
Will my previous credits transfer?
All credit previously earned is evaluated by a transfer counselor on a course-by-course basis. College credit earned from regionally accredited colleges and universities, Advanced Placement, CLEP, DANTES, and the military can be considered for transfer.
How many credits can I transfer in from other colleges?
Students may transfer up to 76 lower division credits and up to 30 upper division credits, with the total not to exceed 94 credit hours. Students interested in the interdisciplinary studies program should contact the Admissions Office for maximum allowed transfer credits.
When can I expect to get a transfer credit evaluation?
Transfer credit evaluations are completed at the time a student is accepted for admission at SUNYIT. Evaluations are also completed during an admissions interview and can be requested at any time throughout the college selection process. We encourage students to contact our office by phone 1-866-2-SUNYIT or e-mail admissions@sunyit.edu to request a preliminary transfer credit evaluation prior to applying to the college.
Do "D" grades transfer?
Courses in which students have earned a grade lower than a "C" are evaluated on an individual basis and credit may be awarded at the discretion of the program director.
