Does SUNYIT offer an orientation program to new transfer students?
The Campus Life Office sponsors our New Student
Orientation/registration program each semester. This program for
newly accepted students allows them to learn about student services,
meet with an advisor and register for classes. The dates and times of
orientation are mailed to accepted students each semester.
Can students have cars on campus?
Yes, students can have cars on campus. Parking is convenient to
classrooms and residence hall facilities. The parking fee is $60.23 per
semester for full-time students and $30.11 per semester for part-time
students.
What other means of transportation does a student have available to
them?
Local bus service is available on campus. Amtrack and Greyhound service
is available to and from the city of Utica and air travel is provided
through either Hancock International Airport in Syracuse, or Albany
International Airport in Albany. For most campus-sponsored events taking
place off-campus, free bus or van transportation is provided on a
space-available basis.
Are students required to purchase a meal plan?
Resident students are required to purchase a meal plan and commuters
may also opt to purchase a meal plan. Options include 7, 14 or 19 meals
per week with additional points.
Where and when can I eat on campus?
Sodexho food service provides breakfast, lunch and dinner
Monday-Friday and brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday in our main
dining hall located in the Campus Center.
The Basement Bistro in Donovan Hall, the 'Cats' Den in the Campus
Center and Cafe Kunsela are also open staggered hours for a meal or
quick snack at a variety of times throughout the day using the
additional points from your meal plan. Items such as cereal, milk, bread
and other snacks can be purchased at the campus bookstore with cash,
check, or credit card.
Is there an infirmary or health facility on campus?
The Health
and Wellness Center is located in the Campus Center. The Health and
Wellness Center offers a wide range of health care services including
routine healthcare, physician and nurse practitioner visits, health
counseling, medications, blood pressure monitoring, referral information
and much more. In addition, there are three hospitals within ten
minutes of campus.
