What is SUNYIT's total enrollment?

What is the ratio of enrolled males and females?
The ratio is approximately 1:1 with 51% men and 49% women.
How large is the campus?
The SUNYIT campus is set on 850 scenic acres.
How many buildings are located on the campus?
There are seven buildings on campus: Kunsela Hall, Donovan Hall, the
Campus Center, Cayan Library, Adirondack Hall, Mohawk Hall and the
Service Center. Construction of a new student activities building is
scheduled to begin in 2006.
Planning is underway for four major campus buildings: a $13 million
student center, a $20 million field house, a $27.5 million technology
center and a $23.5 million residence hall.
When was SUNYIT founded?
SUNYIT was founded in 1966 as the
state's only upper division (all transfer) college. It was initially
located in downtown Utica. In 1988, the current $60 million campus was
completed, making SUNYIT the state's newest campus. After a change in
mission by the state, SUNYIT's first freshmen class was admitted in the
fall of 2003. SUNYIT is now a full, four-year institution offering 20
baccalaureate degree programs and 14 graduate programs.
Is the SUNYIT campus handicapped accessible?
Yes, the entire campus is accessible and we have residence hall rooms designed for students with physical disabilities.
Does SUNYIT have a campus security force?
The University Police
Department provides patrol, investigation, and emergency services to
the campus 24 hours a day. University police officers will escort
students to campus buildings or parking lots, provide emergency first
aid, and provide emergency vehicle assistance. SUNYIT is ranked #1 for
campus safety.
What is the size of the city of Utica?
Utica has a population of approximately 60,000 people.
What attractions are within a reasonable distance to SUNYIT?
Utica
is located in the center of New York State and is a natural gateway to
the Adirondack Mountains and Thousand Islands. The area offers 900
acres of public parks, access to ski areas and other outdoor
activities. Utica is home to Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute Museum
of Art, the Utica Symphony Orchestra, the Broadway Theater League, the
Player's Theater of Utica, and the National Long Distance Running Hall
of Fame. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and the Turning
Stone Casino & Resort are within an hour's drive of Utica.
Is there a job placement service or career day on campus?
Our
Career Services Office provides a wide range of career planning and
employment resources as well as a variety of workshops on resume
writing, interviewing, and graduate school planning. An annual career
fair is held each fall with over 100 prospective employers visiting
campus to discuss internships and employment opportunities with our
students.
ATM/Banking on Campus
There is a Manufacturers and Traders Trust (M&T Bank) ATM located on
the upper level of the Campus Center. There are a number of
full-service M&T Branches within a 10 mile drive of campus. Our
campus Bookstore, The Bookmark also cashes personal checks; up to $30
with a purchase or for a $0.25 fee without a purchase.

Transportation to Campus
Students travelling to campus via Amtrak train or Bus service
(Adirondack Trailways, Greyhound, Birnie Bus Services, Chenango Valley
Bus Services, or Utica-Rome Bus Company) should arrive at Utica's Union
Station. Taxis are available for direct transportation to SUNYIT. Centro
Bus service can also be used via the bus stop on Genesee St./The APAC
building which is a short walk from Union Station. The route to SUNYIT
via Centro is not direct; plan on a 45-minute ride to reach campus.
